Just when I thought it could not get any better...

Max has been home from school all week with a very wet cold.  Our days have not been bad at all since he has been in a great mood.  He has snuggled with me a lot and I love how his deep little voice has gotten even deeper.

Today he asked to go outside.  This was a big deal.  Max never wants to play outside.  We went out and he had a fun time driving his Lightning McQueen battery operated car around the driveway.  It was sunny and in the 50s.

THEN.... it got better.  He asked to ride the "motorcycle" his grandad gave him for Christmas!  This is a big-wheels tricycle that requires pedaling.  I ran to get it before he changed his mind.  He got on it, he pedaled, he was RIDING it!  I ran behind him taking pictures and smiling like a mad woman, while I called my mom.

THEN....it got better.  He asked to ride Caroline's bike.  What?!  I hung up quickly with my mom and grabbed the bike.  No time for a helmet.  He got on it, he tried.  Pedaling was still very hard for him, but he totally understands the concept.  Gone are the days of him pushing down on his legs with his hands as tries to pedal.  Max was trying to ride a bike!  I called Ray from the driveway I was so excited!

THEN....it got WORSE.  In all of the excitement I forget to pick up Caroline from school!  I grabbed Max, who had now taken his shoes off, I managed shoes for myself, but no socks and we headed out.  We almost hit Caroline's bike as we flew out of the driveway.  All the way to her school I was thinking to myself that I had really blown it.  I figured that Caroline would be in hysterics when I got there.  "Best Day Ever" was going down the drain.  Max, however, thought this mad dash was very exciting and had a laughing/coughing for most of the drive.

THEN....it got BETTER.  We got to Caroline's school and she was sitting in the office showing the staff the little photo album she keeps in her backpack.  No tears, totally happy, and perfectly calm.  I asked about ANTs.  Nope, not even any ANTs to squish.  I could not believe it!

This really has been the best day ever!  Despite a very bad cold, Max has more energy than I have ever seen, and he is finally showing an interest in outdoor toys.  Ketocal and mayo seem to be the fuel he needed all along!  This is so exciting!  And Caroline, wow, what a change.  My little worry girl has worked through so many things, and I am very impressed with how she is handling life.  Plus, she has learned to blow a bubble with gum.  She wanted to make sure I added that.

What a great day!

  5. Loooove it! Is he taking anything for his cold that could be a missing "ingredient" to his energy?

I hope it stays, and you can't keep up with him for all of his energy!

And hooray for Caroline...how different this school year is going to end than it began!

  8. Rebecca, I want to see how big Caroline's bubbles can be. Will you tell her to practice on my behalf? We can show each other next time you come visit. :-D

  9. You know I've already read this several times before and it still makes me smile EVERY time!!! It's so happy on so many levels. Max doing great, Caroline doing great, but most of all - YOU enjoying it instead of worrying that things might get bad. You've grown a lot too in the last year :)
